My new novella Cats Are Sluts is now available on Kindle and Nook, and paperback copies will be available on my website in the next week!
Leelee Steel loves eighties music, night drives, and her black cat, Pluto. What she doesn’t love is the chronic pain endangering her dream of being a veterinarian and the violence she experiences at the hands of her alcoholic husband. Despite her precarious circumstances, she’s determined to find a way to take back control of her life.
Then, a senseless act of cruelty forces Leelee to make a drastic choice. With the help of her best friend, Leelee conjures a mysterious power to guide her on the path to freedom. But will the power of magic – and love – be enough to save her? Inspired by the classic Edgar Allan Poe story “The Black Cat,” this modern tale of feminine grit, tenacity, and refusal to accept a life of unhappiness is a testament to the magic of reclaiming one’s power. |

A Little About Me:
I am an independent author, freelance writer, zinester, and performance artist from Austin, Texas. I'm the author of Cats Are Sluts and Hooves, Horns and Roses: Eight Erotic Stories. My short fiction, poetry, and essays have appeared or are forthcoming in The Rio Review, Feminine Inquiry, Musings of a #LonelyFeminist, Gingerbread House Literary Magazine, Hothouse, Corvid Queen, Crown & Pen, The Elephant Ladder, Mookeychick, Coffeetable Coven, Freque Magazine, wind-up mice journal, and Death Wish Poetry, as well as the anthologies The Medusa Project and Bi All Accounts. I currently run the Substack newsletter I'm With The Banned, where I write about book bans and practical ways to fight censorship.
I’m a lifelong, multi-generational Texan, although according to literally everyone I’ve ever met, I apparently sound like I'm from the Upper Midwest (a region I have never even visited). I hold an AA in Creative Writing from Austin Community College and a BA in English from the University of Texas at Austin. I have served as an editor for four literary magazines, and was a regular contributor at HealthyPlace Mental Health for two years. In 2020 I co-founded Crown & Pen, an independent e-zine for creative works in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and served as one of two editors until 2022.
I am also an ordained priestess with the Natural Magick Cooperative in Austin, Texas, and a pole and burlesque artist who performs in various venues in the Austin area under the stage name Belle Black Rose. When I'm not writing, reading, or performing, I can be found playing bass guitar, collecting tattoos, making needle crafts, baking curious concoctions (usually with some kind of edible plant), geeking out over horror movies (particularly the 80s variety), learning too many languages on Duolingo, browsing indie book and comic stores, taking care of my little witches garden, attending the occasional anime or horror convention. and spending time with my partner, three highly opinionated rescue cats, and Bourke's parakeet who fill my life with mischief and joy.
